1-component tools
Proven technology for consistently high quality: 1K technology for injection molds for the production of silicone components has been established on the market since RICO was founded in 1994. Today, this is the basis for continuous technological development.
What makes 1C tools from RICO so special
Higher productivity thanks to a constant increase in the number of cavities.
Where possible, direct injection systems are used to avoid waste and reduce material costs.
RICO molds run at clamping force even when cold, without damaging components and avoiding expensive downtimes and costs.
The joint design of tool and automation at RICO avoids a high level of complexity and increases process reliability.
Many cavities, constant quantities, high availability
RICO's aim is to manufacture molds for the production of low-burr, waste-free and rework-free components
. Thanks to the special cold runner technology, the number of cavities hardly plays a role today. With a minimum distance of approx. 15 mm, valve gates for very high numbers of cavities are also possible.
RICO's sister company HTR is the perfect partner for selecting the steels. In addition, over 25 years of empirically determined data on shrinkage make it possible to define output tolerances correctly and as precisely as possible. This is because shrinkage depends on many different factors: e.g. part size, Shore hardness and/or wall thickness. It is now even possible to feed data from 3D scans back into the design to gain an even better understanding of shrinkage. With these interacting optimal conditions in terms of material and know-how, we at RICO can determine the best possible process window.
We play it safe in the RICO technical centre:
Here we optimize the tools right up to the process freeze. In this way, we do not block any valuable machines for series production and avoid so-called process tweaks. Production can therefore start immediately after the tool has been installed on the series machine.
256-cavity mold
The 256-cavity mold with a shot weight of 0.6 grams per cavity produces single-conductor seals. Targeted optimization reduces the clamping force from 130 tons to 90 tons, which is possible even when cold, without damaging the components. Increased efficiency is achieved thanks to the compact dimensions of the mold. The small size increases productivity and saves up to 20% of energy costs by perfecting the thermal budget. The cold runner with special nozzle system developed in-house at RICO ensures waste-free direct gating.
