development process
01
Development
It all starts with the product idea. Requirements, geometry, material behavior and future applications are analyzed. Initial sketches and CAD models are created during this phase - the foundation for later component optimization.
02
Prototyping
Before a tool is built, we create a prototype. This early prototype is used to check the shape, function and feel of the later part. This is particularly valuable in the silicone sector, as it involves precise mold details and complex geometries, e.g. for sealing lips or micro-contours.
03
3D printing
The next step is a so-called 3D printing tool. This is a mold that is also produced using the additive process - usually made from high-strength plastic or metal. This tool enables initial injection tests with real silicone material (LSR) without the need to manufacture a conventional tool.
04
Toolmaking
When it comes to toolmaking, we place particular emphasis on innovation, quality and on-time implementation in order to create tools that guarantee optimum production processes and the best component quality.
05
Hardening
Through targeted heat treatment, we change the properties of metals to make them more resistant, durable and resilient.
06
Series production
Stable series production starts with the series tool at RICO or another GROUP location. Fully automated production cells take over production - often in "lights-out mode", i.e. production takes place at night without personnel.
